Treyarch Betrays My Trust as a PC Developer

We get quality PC titles from Valve and Blizzard, even free-to-play games are better optimized and have better support in comparison to Black Ops.  Yet here’s Treyarch, a company boasting about listening to the PC community and implementing “PC-only” features, failing to release a stable, smooth running (on an older modified graphic engine compared to a smoother running Modern Warfare 2), first person shooter on the PC!

Then Activision turns around and charges us $60 for a game that can barely pass as a beta.

I can’t fully blame Treyarch, Activision is the real glutton here, wiping their asses with our money, laughing at us for falling for it again, year after year.

They betrayed my trust as a viable PC developer.

Top 10 Reasons Why Most Businesses Fail at SEO – Reason 2

Reason 2: “My business name is all over my site!”

You have your business name littered all over your web site and by doing so it floats to the top of Google search results when your business name is searched.  However, more people are searching categorically without any knowledge of your business name, and because of this you are not showing up where it counts, and losing potential clients.

Imagine you own a roofing company who offers the installation of attic ventilation.  A user, looking for a local business, searches for “attic ventilation <city name>”, unless your company name is “Attic Ventilation”, without proper SEO, you will not show up in the search results where it counts.

Knowing the keywords your users (and competition!) are searching for, and tweaking the applicable pages on your web site could mean the difference between showing above or around your competitors, or not at all.

Top 10 Reasons Why Most Businesses Fail at SEO – Reason 1

Reason 1: “My kid is learning web design in high-school, he will create my website!”

This poor judgment call is among the most common, which usually leads to poor search engine optimization. This may have been okay in the 1990′s when “searching” for a web site roughly translated to rummaging through the papers on your desk looking for the ever elusive sticky note with a triple “w” on it. Today, it’s important to have your business site optimized for Google, where everyday, more and more people are actively searching for your business!

Needless to say, those just starting to dabble in web design & development, more times than not, will design/develop with a crooked eye. It’s not entirely their fault, they need to grow their skill-set, but they have alternatives in doing so – developing a business’ site aiming to drive traffic and dollars, is not one of them.

Elegant design coupled with today’s SEO standards will net you surprising search engine results. Usually going from no where on Google to within the first page of search results. Keyword analysis, proper coding and use of html tags, and a watchful eye on site performance and analytics are essential – your average high-school student will not have these expertise.

My second game as Kennen and I was called a “natural pro” by the players on the other team. I just call it lucky, but I went 17-3-9, killing the entire team at the end leading to our victory.
